New Data Highlights the Dangers Due to the Winifred's Lane ETRO.

ree

Below are two very interesting sets of data collected by a local resident of Sion Hill. The data was collected by manually counting cars over one hour periods on the stretch on Sion Road approaching the bends around Sion Hill Place.

This data has been shared with Councillors Hirst and Rigby, the Lansdown Councillors Elliot and Hodge, the Leader of the Council Kevin Guy, the responsible Council Officers, and the LTN team.

The data aligns very strongly with the data collected by the HoLCG during the ETRO trial earlier this year.

It is clear that the ETRO still has not discouraged vehicle journeys and the vast increase in traffic North bound on Sion Rd demonstrates the failure of this ETRO in its stated goals:

·         reduce excessive traffic in residential areas? Failed

·         keep through-traffic on the main road and disperse local traffic across a wider area? Failed

·         create safer routes for walking and cycling through the area? Failed (the top of Cavendish Road is now manifestly more dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists, the blind bends on Sion Rd with 7x to 24x times more North bound traffic will increase the likelihood of accidents)

For the safety of all travellers in this area, this ETRO should be abandoned and Winifred's Lane re-opened to vehicles.
